The German Building Modernisation Act (GModG) is the central legal framework for energy requirements for new and existing buildings in Germany. Its aim is to sustainably increase energy efficiency in the building sector and further improve the energy quality of buildings.

This includes information on the building envelope, heating and ventilation technology, insulation standards and energy consumption. Regular updates and plausibility checks of the existing information are also important in order to be prepared for current and future requirements in the long term.
