Review EXPO REAL 2025: Innovative strength needs the right playing field

From 5 to 7 October 2025, the international real estate industry gathered once again in Munich for EXPO REAL. Around 42,000 participants from over 70 countries had the opportunity to gain a comprehensive overview of current developments, innovations and solutions. BAScloud Managing Director Stefan Schaffner was there. He held many intensive discussions with customers, partners and interested parties.

ESG: From hype to reality
One key observation: “While last year – especially in the “Transform & Beyond” innovation area, but also across the entire trade fair – was strongly dominated by ESG, the topic now played only a minor role. That doesn’t mean that the criteria have lost their importance. On the contrary: developments show that regulatory requirements and corresponding solutions have become an integral part of everyday working life for most companies,” says Stefan Schaffner. With valid building data, BAScloud creates the basis for optimisations in real estate operations and thus for achieving ESG sustainability goals.

Focus on innovation
As in previous years, Tech & Excellence Night was one of the highlights of EXPO REAL. The German Platform for Technology & Innovation (gpti), of which Stefan Schaffner is a board member, together with ista SE, once again invited guests to the KPMG headquarters in Munich on the last day of the trade fair. More than 160 participants from the field of innovation engaged in lively discussions about current opportunities and challenges. The exclusive setting and compact programme left plenty of room for personal conversations and valuable insights.
