Event review: Focus on data integration and synergies
At the end of the year, BAScloud is not only represented at numerous events, it also covers a wide range of topics: While the KPMG event “Real Estate and Innovation” in Berlin focused on the integration of building data, Managing Director Stefan Schaffner demonstrated at the RESI Impact Night at the EBZ Business School in Bochum how cooperation between start-ups and large companies can be successful for both sides and which factors are decisive in this regard.
Networking buildings – easy, right? In reality, the picture is often quite different. And even when innovative start-ups want to work with large corporates in the real estate sector, desire and reality sometimes clash harshly. In his presentations in November, Stefan Schaffner demonstrated empirical values and solutions for both problem areas.
New approaches to data integration
At the “Real Estate and Innovation” event on November 11, 2024 at the KPMG headquarters in Berlin, everything revolved around the integration of building management solutions such as MMS from ProFM Facility & Project Management GmbH or HouseMeister App from SeDoMo GmbH. In his presentation, Stefan Schaffner focused on the practical application and the challenges that often arise during implementation. Missing master data in particular is a key problem, as it can significantly limit the performance of even the most modern systems.
For example, MMS and HouseMeister App continuously exchange processes and data directly. For this to happen efficiently, the applications need a uniform understanding of the master data: Which defective pump within the property is it and where exactly is it located? This is where BAScloud Structure Services come into play: they ensure a common data context by assigning a unique ID to technical devices within the property, for example. These central services connect the applications with each other, avoid data silos and make processes more efficient. These central services connect the applications with each other, avoid data silos and make processes more efficient.
This approach enables structured and reliable integration that creates real added value in practice. “The central services form the basis of a well thought-out data strategy, which in turn is the key to successful digitalization,” says Stefan Schaffner.
Practical presentation at the EBZ Business School in Bochum
The following day, Stefan Schaffner took to the stage at the EBZ Business School’s RESI Impact Night in Bochum. Under the motto “Synergies of start-ups & companies for innovative business models”, he presented the collaboration between BAScloud and Deka Immobilien. In his practical presentation, he described the challenges and solutions that shaped the joint project.
One of the presentations focused on the specific problems that start-ups face when working with large companies. Stefan Schaffner described the dynamic between the two worlds with the vivid image of a non-Newtonian fluid: “The faster and stronger a start-up approaches a corporate, the more likely it is to bounce back. It needs the right mix of adaptation and consistency.” Start-ups must adapt to the circumstances of large companies without losing their innovative strength.
Stefan Schaffner concluded by sharing key insights from the collaboration: start-ups need to be flexible and take the innovative capacity of large companies seriously. “Many corporates are more innovative than they seem at first glance. To be successful, a start-up’s solution must fit into existing systems and processes – otherwise it will fail,” he emphasized.
We will find the right solution for your challenge in the field of networked buildings – we promise.
